To improve the abilities, expertise, and disposition of linemen from SPUG-Luzon Operations Department, NPC, through Human Resources Training & Development Division, conducted the inaugural class of Basic Lineman Training Course at NPC Minuyan Complex on 22 November, 2024.

The 24-day program combines classroom discussions and hands-on training to equip 35 linemen from Catanduanes, Marinduque, Masbate, Mindoro, and Palawan with the expertise to maintain and operate transmission and distribution lines. This highlights NPC’s dedication to enhancing linemen’s welfare through training initiatives and advocating for plantilla positions, inspired by their exemplary service and sacrifices.

Meralco Power Academy (MPA) President Nixon Hao, MPA Program Management Director Marc Lester Malibiran, and MPA Program Manager Denise Barrun attended the event to foster partnership with NPC for capacity build-up of manpower in missionary areas. MPA instructors Florentino Ullero and Sol De Guzman are leading the sessions, ensuring participants receive expert guidance throughout the program.

Through this initiative, SPUG-Luzon aims to enhance the technical skills of the linemen, foster a culture of safety, and ultimately improve the reliability of off-grid transmission and distribution lines.
