Continuing its mission on watershed awareness campaign, NPC Caliraya-Lumot Watershed Area Team (CLWAT) held IEC campaigns and two lectures in Lumban National High School on 12 December 2024 in Lumban, Laguna.
A total of 295 students and 43 faculty members attended both lectures led by Forester Andrea L. Gonzales. The discussions are focused on educating students on the mission, programs, and activities of NPC, highlighting the crucial role of the Caliraya-Lumot Watershed Forest Reserve (CLWFR) in supporting national development. It also highlighted how crucial the nearby forests and lakes of Calirya and Lumot are to maintaining ecological balance and power generation. In line with this, the lectures also addressed the various challenges faced by the watershed reservation while encouraging students to take proactive steps in protecting and safeguarding the area for future generations.
Because of the students’ active participation, it is expected that these educational initiatives would greatly raise awareness and foster a deeper understanding of environmental protection.
