NPC’s Caliraya-Lumot Watershed Area Team recently joined the general assembly of the Samahan ng mga Palaisdaan sa may Lawa ng Lumot or SPLL to get involved in discussions on protecting the lake. 

NPC-CLWAT’s Forester Saimon Hernandez presented NPC’s current policies and regulations for the lake including the fish cage inventory. He emphasized the importance of protecting the lake for the community’s livelihood. 

SPLL on the other hand presented its projects and financial standing to the body. 

Representatives from various government offices were also present during the meeting – Ms. Vina Loraine Orolfo, Municipal Agriculturist; Mr. Marlon Tobias, Provincial Agriculturist; Mr. Peter Arroyo, Barangay Captain of Bukal; Mr. Lamberto Ramos, Barangay Agricultural and Fisheries Council of Cansuso; and Mr. Joey Oliveros, Barangay Agricultural and Fisheries Council of Paowin. 

On top of its watershed rehabilitation and protection programs, NPC is also actively engaging communities and local organizations to maximize opportunities for partnerships and fruitful programs. The Caliraya-Lumot Watershed in Laguna is one of the 11 watersheds it manages and oversees.
