On September 5, 2024, the NPC-Buhi-Barit Watershed Area Team (BBWAT) donated approximately 62 board feet of unprocessed wood logs to Agapito E. Delima National High School in Macaangay, Buhi, Camarines Sur. This initiative aims to support the school’s the request of forest products lumber supply for the ongoing carpentry works and promote sustainable resource use in the local community.

The virtual turnover ceremony led by Mr. Emmanuel A. Umali Manager of the Watershed Management Department, and attended by other NPC employees, witnessed the formal transfer of the wood logs to Mr. Namer L. Praxides, Teacher-In-Charge of Agapito Delima National High School. The donated wood logs will be used as materials for the improvement of the school buildings and furniture.

In most cases, trees that are illegally logged and captured under the Bantay-Watershed Program of WMD are processed and donated by NPC to host communities of its plants and watersheds.

Buhi-Barit Watershed Area houses 4 municipalities and fifty-six barangays. It also supports hydroelectric power through Lake Buhi, which is also known as home of the world’s smallest commercial fish. NPC’s watershed management mandate includes the rehabilitation and protection of 11 watershed areas in the country.
