To promote nature-based and watershed-friendly livelihood opportunities, NPC has recently organized a beekeeping training and distributed beekeeping starter kits to 20 bona fide residents of Barangay Cansuso in Cavinti, Laguna.
Led by the Caliraya Lumot Watershed Area Team, the training provided the basic knowledge and tools needed to start a beekeeping business.
The participants were trained by experts from Annie’s Natural Farm and were given starter kits consisting of learning modules, bee colonies, protective gears, and other tools.
NPC’s watershed management mandate includes the rehabilitation and protection of 11 watershed areas in the country including the Caliraya-Lumot Watershed in Laguna. Apart from responsible stewardship of the reservations, NPC also provides livelihood training to help communities earn and discourage them from illegal forest activities.
