The NPC Pantabangan-Carrangalan Watershed Area Team (PCWAT), in partnership with Central Luzon State University (CLSU), held a Livelihood Training and Project Development on Dragon Fruit Production from November 6 to 8, 2024. The training was conducted in Barangay R.A. Padilla and Barangay Burgos in Carrangalan, as well as Barangay Conversion in Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija.

The beneficiaries included fire rescue team members from various barangays within the Pantabangan-Carrangalan Watershed Reservation (PCWR), who are involved in fire prevention and suppression activities. The project provides them with a sustainable source of livelihood as they work to protect the watershed.

Each barangay will establish a communal area for dragon fruit production. Under the program, NPC will supply materials for the production farms, while CLSU will oversee the implementation.

The initiative aims to establish a demonstration farm showcasing a multi-story agroforestry system that can supply planting materials and livestock to other farmers in the community. It also seeks to promote sustainable upland farming methods, providing existing upland farmers with techniques to increase their income while contributing to the conservation of the PCWR.
