Last October, the National Power Corporation – Bicol Operations Division (BOD), in collaboration with representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), organized a successful tree planting activity at the Balongbong Hydro Electric Power Plant (HEPP) Forebay & Dam in Brgy. Sibacungan, Bato, Catanduanes.

A total of 300 seedlings were planted along the 1.8-kilometer stretch from the Forebay to the Dam. This initiative not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the area but also plays a critical role in promoting biodiversity, improving air quality, and combating soil erosion. The trees planted will contribute to the local ecosystem and serve as a natural habitat for various species, thereby supporting the ecological balance in the region.

This activity reflects NPC’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development, aligning with national goals for reforestation and community engagement. The positive impact of such initiatives resonates deeply within the local community, fostering a sense of responsibility towards preserving the natural environment for future generations. The dedication shown by the NPC Bicol / Catanduanes Area Personnel, alongside the DENR representatives, underscored the importance of community involvement in environmental conservation efforts.

Overall, the event was a testament to the collaborative efforts of public institutions in addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable practices in Catanduanes.
