On September 4, 2024, NPC through the Magat Watershed Area Team (MWAT) together with City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO)-Alfonso Lista, held an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign in Sitio Halag III, Brgy. Halag, Aguinaldo, Ifugao.

The activity was attended by 26 participants from local communities across various sitios of Barangay Halag, Aguinaldo, Ifugao. The lectures focused on the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines under Presidential Decree No. 705, and biodiversity conservation, which allowed participants to foster a deeper understanding of sustainable forest management within the community.

All participants also actively engaged in a role-playing activity, giving them the opportunity to apply first-hand knowledge through practical scenarios. This will help develop empathy and understanding of how biodiversity impacts both human and non-human species, as well as their surrounding communities.

IEC campaign is one of the initiatives given to communities that empower and equip them with knowledge and skills to actively participate in forest conservation efforts and make informed decisions on natural resources.

The Magat Watershed Area Reservation occupies the Eastern part of Ifugao Province, and is located within the municipalities of Mayoyao, Lagawe, Alfonso Lista, and Aguinaldo in Ifugao; Santiago City and Ramon in Isabela; and Diadi in Nueva Vizcaya. It is one of the 11 watershed reservations under the stewardship of NPC.
