To celebrate World Environment Day and June as environment month, NPC’s Lake Lanao-Agus River Watershed Area Team led a tree planting activity at Agus 5 HEP in Iligan City.

The activity included NPC personnel from Mindanao Generation and Barangay Ditucalan Council who planted 100 varied fruit trees of jackfruit, durian, and rambutan. 

“Protecting nature should always be part of our priorities since humans are the main consumers/ benefactors of nature,” said MinGen-CMTSD’s Engr. Hassan Macadatar. 

Hon. Batoa-an Macabangkit, Ditucalan Barangay Chairman also expressed his full support for activities that support and protect the environment. 

NPC manages 11 watershed areas in the country that support power generation. One of these is the Lake Lanao-Agus River Watershed in Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte which has a total area of 193, 440 hectares and supports the water needs of the cascading hydroelectric power plants of Agus.
