The National Power Corporation and Maharlika Consortium have recently sealed the deal for the latter to develop microgrid systems for eight unserved areas in Cebu, Quezon and Palawan.
This came after the Department of Energy (DOE) successfully conducted the first round of its competitive selection process for the microgrid systems service provider (MGSP) and awarded it in favor of the Consortium.
With the signing of the microgrid service contract between the two entities, the Consortium of Maharlika Clean Power Holdings Corporation (MCPHC), CleanGrid Partners Pte. Ltd (CGP) and WeEnergy Global Pte. Ltd. (WEG) will provide electricity services to the said areas through a hybrid microsystem with solar PV, energy storage system, and diesel generating sets.
The rates that will be used in the covered areas will be determined by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and will be sourced from the Universal Charge for Missionary Electrification.
Signing the MGSP service contract were NPC President Fernando Martin Y. Roxas and MCPHC’s Quintin Jose V. Pastrana.
