After years of renting out building spaces, NPC finally opened its new and permanent home in Cebu City for its Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG) – Visayas Operations Department (VOD). The newly opened office building located in Sudlong, Lahug is named after the late NPC President, Engr. Pio J. Benavidez to honor him for his works in the power industry and in paving the way for building the said office for SPUG VOD. The building also honors Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia and the people of Cebu for allowing NPC the beneficial use of the land through a usufruct agreement.

Present during the inauguration of the building were NPC President and CEO Fernando Martin Y. Roxas, NPC Ladies Foundation Inc. President Ms. Ginny Roxas, and Mr. Pio Benavidez’s wife Ambassador Virginia H. Benavidez and children, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander and Jo Benavidez. NPC’s entire Management Committee was also present and attended the Thanksgiving mass and blessing ceremonies.

In her heartfelt message, Ambassador Gee Benavidez extended her warm appreciation for the gesture and reiterated Sir Pio’s message to the employees, partners, and customers during the building’s groundbreaking.

β€œNawa po ay patuloy namin kayong makatuwang sa aming mga proyekto not only for Cebuanos but for the people of the Visayas region. May we always keep an open communication, and may you never tire of supporting us and extending your understanding for us. Makakaasa po kayo na mas pagbubutihin po namin ang serbisyo,” Amba Gee said.

The message served as a reminder for NPC SPUG employees to deliver service with excellence and for the industry partners that they may never tire of supporting the Corporation. The newly opened office will be the center of business for NPC’s 54 (as of 2022) SPUG plants in the Visayas region. It is located at DoΓ±a Modesta Gaisano St. Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City.
