National Power Corporation through the Pantabangan-Carranglan Watershed Area Team (PCWAT) conducted a tree planting activity in Joson, Carranglan, Nueva Ecija, on July 18, 2024, in line with the implementation of the Seedling Dispersal Program. This is a part of their Social Mobilization Program where NPC-PCWAT and other participants actively engage in tree nurturing activities during on-set of rainy days.
Following this success, another tree planting activity was conducted on August 6, 2024, with participation from the Association of Laborers and Farmers for Agricultural and Development Inc. This effort continued the mission to cultivate 25,000 trees, including forest, native, and fruit-bearing seedlings. NPC-PCWAT dispersed a total of 1500 seedlings composed of Atis, Duhat, Guyabano, Banaba, Balitbitan, Lanete, Narra, Cashew, and Bignai species to the Peopleโs Association as part of their farm development.
NPC-PCWAT personnel will closely monitor the planted species in the areas to observe their growth performance and survival rate as part of the Survival/Sustainability Plan. The Team is focused on watershed rehabilitation projects that aim to help interested community participants to join various tree planting programs and other similar environmental activities within Pantabangan-Carranglan Watershed Forest Reserve (PCWFR).
PCWFR supplies water to the Pantabangan Dam that provides irrigation water to agricultural lands in Central Luzon and is one of the 11 watershed area reservations under NPCโs stewardship.
