In its bid to fortify stakeholder relations and in the protection of the Caliraya Watershed, the National Power Corporation has recently hosted Lagunaโ€™s 2nd Provincial Multi-Sectoral Forest Protection Committee meeting.

The attendees were composed of the provinceโ€™s anti-illegal logging and timber poaching task force, NPCโ€™s Caliraya-Lumot Watershed area team, representatives from the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), City Environment and Natural Resources Office of Sta. Cruz, Philippine Information Agency-Laguna, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Laguna, 202nd IB of the Philippine Army, Laguna Provincial Mobile Force Company, UP Land Grant, UPLB MCME, Department of Agrarian Reform(DAR)-Laguna and Provincial Assessorโ€™s Office (PAO)-Laguna.

The meeting discussed the most pressing issues in the pursuit of a healthy and thriving forest and combatting the illegal activities within the protected areas in Laguna. There were also invited speakers from PAO and DAR who responded to the concerns raised during the meeting.

The 11-hectare Caliraya Lumot Watershed is one of the 11 watersheds that NPC manages and protects through its various rehabilitation and resource development programs.
