GCG Hails NPC, 13 Others as Outstanding GOCCs for 2021

In a simple ceremony on Monday, December 5, the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) recognized NPC as one of the 14 outstanding government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCC) based on the 2021 Corporate Governance Scorecard (CGS).

On behalf of NPC, Usec. Giovanni Carlo J. Bacordo of the DOE, NPC President and CEO Fernando Martin Y. Roxas, and NPC Corporate Secretary and compliance officer Atty. Patrick D. Mabbagu received the certificate of recognition from GCG Chairperson, Retired Justice Alex L. Quiroz, and Commissioners Gideon D.V. Mortel and Geraldine Marie Berberabe-Martinez. They were joined by the top executives from other recognized agencies that include Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), Cebu Ports Authority, Clark Development Corporation, Development Bank of the Philippines, Government Service Insurance System, Landbank of the Philippines, LBP Leasing and Finance Corporation, National Electrification Administration, Philippine Crop Insurance, Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation, Philippine Reclamation Authority, PSALM Corporation, and Small Business Corporation.

The Corporate Governance Scorecard which was developed using the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) policies and the ASEAN Corporate Governance Standards is one of the metrics that the GCG uses in assessing GOCCS.

In the previous years when the GCG used ranking in determining the top performing GOCCs, NPC ranked first in 2019, 11th in 2018, and 12th in 2017. In 2020, NPC was likewise hailed as outstanding.

NPC’s performance at the CGS is a testament to its resolute efforts and commitment to service and excellence, albeit its present challenges.
