NPC's SPUG Luzon conferred with the 2021 Energy Efficiency Excellence Award

NPC’s Small Power Utilities Group – Luzon Operations Department on Wednesday, May 11 has been awarded the 2021 Energy Efficiency Excellence Award by the Department of Energy

– Energy Utilization Management Bureau.

In line with DOE’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program, NPC SPUG-LOD in 2021 posted a total electricity savings of 268,514kWH which is equivalent to Php 3,234,245.70. One remarkable measure according to DOE is SPUG-LOD’s initiative to replace their service vehicles that already traveled at least 175,000km which greatly contributed to the organization’s fuel savings.

Among the group’s energy-saving practices included the implementation of regular preventive maintenance of lamp fixtures and air-conditioning units to achieve their optimum performance and reduce energy consumption.

Accepting the award is SPUG LOD Acting Department Manager, Mr. Edwin T. Tatel together with Admin and Finance Division Manager, Ms. Lolita B. Chavez; WMTSD Manager, Mr. Roel S. Guanio; and the SPUG-LOD Enercon team headed by Mr. Rodrigo Q. Cayetano, Jr.
“We look forward to your continued efforts and advances in EEC programs, measures, and activities,” said DOE Senior Undersecretary Jesus Cristino P. Posadas while extending his gratitude to the awardees.

On the same day, DOE- EUMB and NPC SPUG Vice President, VP Larry I. Sabellina with the rest of the SPUG-LOD team also had a chance to have discussions of their plans and steps forward in further contributing to the program’s objective.

Last month, the NPC head office also received the same award for its energy consumption practices.
