NPC meets DENR officials for strengthened forest protection measures for Angat Watershed

NPC has recently met with the provincial officials of the DENR to come up with a comprehensive action plan for deterring illegal activities in the forests and increasing environmental awareness of the people living

near or within the Angat Watershed.

Present in the meeting were NPC’s Watershed Management Department Manager Mr. Emmanuel A. Umali, PENRO Bulacan’s Ms. Emelita P. Lingat, PENRO Rizal’s Mr. Ramil Limpiada and CENRO’s Mr. Rolly D. Mulato.

The key discussion of the collaborative meeting was the deployment of 120 forest protection officers in strategic locations to cover the hotspot areas in Angat Watershed and the conducting of information, education, and communication campaigns to educate communities on the importance of preserving natural resources and on the established forestry laws in the country.

This Inter-Agency Forest Protection group is formed and committed to the preservation, rehabilitation, and protection of our forest land, continuous carbon sequestration, and sustainability of our natural resources.
