NPC energizes new area in Araceli, Palawan

The National Power Corporation on Monday, September 7, inaugurates a new power facility in Calandagan Island in Araceli, Palawan.

NPC allotted an 88-kW diesel generating set to the island which will initially operate daily for 8 hours. The Provincial Government of Palawan contributed to the success of the project through the accelerated establishment of the powerhouse and distribution lines.

In his brief message on the simple inauguration, Araceli Mayor Noel A. Beronio said that the electricity will be a huge help for the abundant fishing industry of the island.

Araceli is a coastal municipality located in the northeastern part of Palawan. Calandagan Island is NPC’s fourth new area this 2020.

NPC, as mandated by the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001, is tasked to provide power and associated power systems in off-grid islands and communities in the country.
