With the theme, ‘Sustainable Tree Planting: A Tool to Cool Off Mother Earth,’ NPC’s Upper Agno River Watershed Area Team (UARWAT) kicks off its tree planting caravan. The program aims to tap residents, stakeholders and the Barangay Forest Protection teams in planting at least 7,000 forest and fruit tree seedlings in 14 barangays and schools of the watershed’s host communities.

The program is also seen as a way of strengthening partnership with the communities and to build-up shared values and responsibility in achieving the common goal of protecting and preserving the environment.

The Upper Agno River Watershed supports the private sector-operated Ambukalo and Binga Hydroelectric Power Plants in Benguet, and the San Roque Hydroelectric Power Plant in Pangasinan. It is one of the 11 watershed reservations under NPC management.
