NPC LFI holds second meeting for the year, celebrates with VP Barruela of CAG

The NPC Ladies Foundation, Inc. members and officers gathered last March 29 for its second meeting for the year. The ladies discussed the possibility of having another classroom project for school children in the Visayas region. They also tackled the Foundation’s financial standing and the highlights of its recent turnover of an ICT classroom for Amai Pakpak Central Elementary School in Marawi City on January 28.

The meeting was followed by a Fellowship to congratulate and celebrate with the newly appointed Vice President for Corporate Affairs Group of NPC, Mr. Rene B. Barruela, who also celebrated his birthday in March.

In her message, Ambassador Virginia H. Benavidez expressed her gratitude for VP Barruela’s support to the Foundation saying, ‘his support and encouragement to the women of CAG to join NPC-LFI has resulted in a significant increase in the Foundation’s membership.’

For the afternoon’s togetherness, Cafe Buenavie’s home kitchen served Malay Brunei dishes of Nasi Lemak (fragrant long grain rice flavored with coconut milk, lemongrass and pandan leaves) with chicken, cucumbers, hard boiled eggs, fried peanuts, anchovies, sambal belacan and beef rendang and fish and mussels crackers. We served yacon salad too. For dessert, the ladies shared over baked orange almond cakes and made homemade vanilla and rocky road ice cream and assorted cookies. Homemade hot black and red dates tea became a big hit for everyone.

NPC LFI’s first blood drive for 2019, a success!

The NPC Ladies Foundation, Inc. has once again conducted a blood letting project as part of its mission to create a lasting difference to the lives of its beneficiaries. On March 18, 77 blood donors from NPC and its neighboring agency, National Irrigation Administration, passed the screening.

NPC LFI President, Ambassador Virginia H. Benavidez profusely thanked the blood heroes – the generous donors, Dr. Serge Denoga, Dr. Angelica Joy and the rest from the Philippine Blood Center of the Department of Health; and Ms. Nenita Paulino and Ms. Armi Glenda Lanting of LFI who are in charge of the project. She also extended her appreciation to everyone who helped in setting up and serving of food for the donors.

“All of us continue to thank and praise GOD for enabling NPC-LFI and the PBC, DOH Team to carry on with the blood donation drive that contributes to the saving of lives of our people and fulfills our mission of helping together for the greater good,” Ambassador Gee said.

NPC LFI members were delighted as they have exceeded the target of 75 donors. May the heroes continue to give the gift of life on future blood drives, they said.

NPC LFI holds first meeting for 2019

On January 24, 2019, the NPC Ladies Foundation Inc. holds its first meeting to review the accomplishments of the previous year and welcome not only the New Year but its new members.

LFI President Ambassador Virginia H. Benavidez has prepared a Street Food menu for the group with home cooked Filipino foods like Pancit Canton and Vermicelli Noodles. The menu also included fish balls, chicken balls, shrimp balls, kwek-kwek, isaw, taho, green mangoes, turnips, among others.

The ladies including the new members and NPC’s Management Committee have enjoyed the menu and the sharing of thoughts as Ambassador Gee also opened the discussion for suggestions on fundraising and future activities.

Truly, each LFI meeting becomes not only a planning session but also celebration of friendships forged over food and noble projects.

NPC LFI turns over classroom project to Amai Pakpak Central School in Marawi City

On January 28, 2019, the NPC Ladies Foundation, Inc. led by Ambassador Virginia H. Benavidez turned over its ICT classroom project to the teachers and students of Amai Pakpak Central School (APCES) in Marawi City.

Joining Ambassador Gee Benavidez were fellow ladies Vice President Lorna T. Dy, Ms. Marcia Guinto, Ms. Eloida Leona and Ms. Rosanna Abiog from the Head Office, Vice President Edmundo Veloso, Mr. Marni Bautil and the LFI members from Mindanao Generation.

Dr. Sadrodin M. Diron, Assistant School Division Superintendent, Ms. Paisa Y. Macaraya APCES Assistant Principal, teachers and students gave the warmest welcome to the NPC LFI and witnessed the unveiling of the marker and the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Ambassador Gee expressed her gratitude to the NPC LFI’s Board of Trustees, heads of the fund-raising committee, all its members and the entire NPC family for their time, talent and support for the Foundation’s programs which made the project a reality.

“Our classroom donation is a realization of our commitment, collaboration and contribution to the education and empowerment of our beloved students in the midst of rebuilding Marawi,” Amb. Gee said.

NPC LFI conferred with the Antonio Luna Award for its blood donation drives

The NPC Ladies Foundation, Inc. on Friday, January 25 receives the Antonio Luna Award from the Department of Health and the Philippine Blood Center for collecting over 200 blood donations from October 2017 to September 2018.

The award was received by Foundation President Ambassador Virginia H. Benavidez along with fellow ladies Ms. Eufemia Mendiola and Ms. Nenita Paulino during the Dugong Bayani Awards 2019. The awarding ceremony intends to recognize the commitment and support of blood donor partner agencies in providing safe, adequate and accessible blood for patients who need them and whose lives were saved.

The Foundation also received a plaque of appreciation for its support in the DOH’s advocacy in promoting voluntary blood donation and the conduct of platelet-pheresis drive.

The recognitions highlight the NPC Ladies Foundation’s vision of making tangible difference to the lives of the people it serves.

The Foundation said that it dedicates the awards to the real heroes – their blood donors every quarter at the National Power Corporation. Likewise, the Foundation will continue its blood donation drives to continue saving lives.

 
 

NPC LFI’s facilitates the best gift giving in its last blood drive for 2018

The National Power Corporation Ladies Foundation, Inc., in cooperation with the Philippine Blood Center of the Department of Health (DOH) held its fourth blood letting drive for 2018 last December 19.

“Tis the time of the year when giving of one’s self and sharing of love through blood donations to save lives makes the spirit of Christmas much more alive and uplifting to all of us,” said NPC LFI President Ambassador Virginia ‘Gee’ H. Benavidez.

Ambassador Gee expressed her gratitude for the increased number of donors and the cooperation of the DOH team led by Dr. Serge Denoga and the Blood Donation Committee headed by Ms. Nenita Paulino.

Out of the 59 who signified their intention to donate, 48 passed through the medical exam prior donation.

NPC LFI presented Certificates of Appreciation to Dr. Denoga and his team who has been with the Foundation in every blood donation this year.

NPC Ladies Foundation, Inc. opens Christmas Village, sends warm greetings to the public

Christmas is just around the corner and the Christmas spirit is even more felt at NPC today as the NPC Ladies Foundation, Inc. led by Ambassador Virginia H. Benavidez opens the Christmas Village collection.

The Christmas Village collection, composed of more than a thousand pieces, is a personal collection of Amb. Benavidez who extended her Christmas greetings to NPC employees, guests and friends.

“This collection has always been with us wherever we are – in Brunei, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Filipino communities always look forward to visiting our home for this,” Ambassador Gee shared.

She also said that the Foundation has also been mirroring the resurgence and resilience theme of NPC’s Photo contest and 2017 Annual Report. Resurgence is seen in the Foundation’s classroom project in Marawi City that paves the way for the rising of a new face of the city after the siege. Resilience is shown in the other programs of the Foundation that supports the less fortunate like the deaf-mute children who handmade the 6 ft Christmas tree of the village out of sea shells and seeds.

Employees took their selfies and groupies with the displays right after the opening. The Christmas Village is becoming an attraction at NPC among guests since its display during the Christmas season last year.

NPC Ladies gather for the 2018 General Assembly and Christmas Tea Party

The members of the NPC-Ladies Foundation, Inc. led by its President Ambassador Virginia H. Benavidez, gathers on Wednesday, December 05 at NPC Fiesta Hall for the annual general assembly and Christmas party with high tea theme.

Around 80 members and guests came to celebrate and learn about the Foundation’s accomplishments for 2018. The party also became a wonderful time of fellowship, fun games and gift giving. The food and drinks for the High Tea was prepared by Café Buenavie Plus, Inc. and were truly enjoyed by the ladies and guests.

In her appreciation message, Amb. Gee Benavidez expressed her utmost gratitude to the Ladies and guests for their support, dedication and service.

“With overflowing joy and gratitude to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the reason for the season, the NPC-LFI wishes everyone a Blessed Christmas filled with peace, love, hope and faith,” she said.

NPC LFI holds groundbreaking of its classroom project in Marawi City

The NPC Ladies Foundation Inc., on Wednesday holds the groundbreaking ceremony of its classroom project in Amai Pakpak Central School (APCES) in Barangay Buadi, Marawi City.

The groundbreaking ceremony was led by LFI’s Secretary Ms. Eloida Leona, Ms. Ana Lucina Bathan and Ms. Rosanna Abiog together with the Foundation members in Mindanao Generation and the teachers and students of APCES led by its Principal Ms. Pinamili S. Diron.

In her message delivered by Ms. Leona, Foundation President Ambassador Virginia H. Benavidez expressed her gratitude to the Napocor family for sharing their time, talent and resources in making the project a reality. She also extended her appreciation to the school saying, “we thank the Principal for allowing this area in the school grounds to be used for this purpose. We all have a stake in doing the best we can for the education and well-being of our children.”

Following the timetable for the construction of the classroom by Green Builders and Enterprises, the NPC Ladies Foundation, Inc. expects its completion and turnover before the end of the year.
