NPC Partners with LGU in Bokod, Benguet, Conducts Fire Preparedness Training

To promote forest protection through fire management, NPC’s Upper Agno River Watershed Area Team (UARWAT) partnered with the Bokod Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the Bokod Fire Station and Nawal Integrated School, and conducted a workshop on fire preparedness and prevention for barangay officials and volunteers of Barangay Nawal.

The three-day training also aimed to establish a group of men and women who will serve as a reinforcement team in cases of fire or emergency.

Franklin W. Mariano of UARWAT discussed NPC’s mandates on watershed protection, common fire problems in the vicinity, and the safe ways to respond to them. The discussion was further reinforced by the Bokod Fire Station’s firefighters who taught the participants the techniques for suppressing structural fires and using fire extinguishers.
