Fernando Martin "Nani" Roxas is the new Napocor President

The National Power Board on Friday, September 30 elected and confirmed Fernando Martin ‘Nani’ Y. Roxas as the new President and CEO of the National Power Corporation (Napocor).

This partnership was made through the former’s Energy Sector Carbon Sequestration Initiative Program which was launched last October 2021 by the Department of Energy and NPC.

Roxas is an experienced management professional and a seasoned executive in the energy sector whose expertise included sustainable energy systems, financial and economic analysis, systems thinking and strategy management, and corporate planning, among others.

He worked with Napocor as a geologist in 1978 and later became manager of the Corporate Planning Group in 1990 and the Strategic Planning Department in 1994. He also served as group manager of the Privatization and Restructuring External Office, an ad hoc group tasked to study and craft the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001 (EPIRA).

Before his appointment as Napocor CEO, Roxas has been a professor for over 20 years at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) where he teaches Systems Thinking, and Operations Management. He also served as a consultant to the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and US Aid.

He has produced several scholarly publications on tourism and sustainable energy and served as the executive director of the Dr. Andrew L. Tan Center for Tourism where he developed training programs on sustainable tourism applications. He was instrumental in the Department of Tourism’s current strategy for rebooting local tourism.

Roxas completed his degree in geology from the University of the Philippines and his master’s degree in Engineering Geology from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand, both as a scholar. He also obtained a master’s degree in business management from AIM and a doctorate in business administration from De La Salle University.
