NPC provides honeybee production training to the Dumagat community in Angat Watershed

The NPC – Angat Watershed Area Team has recently concluded a four-day training on honeybee production and financial management for some 35 members of the Katutubong Dumagat ng Sierra Madre ng Angat (KADUSMANA)

, an indigenous people’s organization formed and organized by NPC.

Honeybee production is one of the identified high potential and sustainable livelihoods for the Dumagats on NPC- AWAT’s Community Livelihood Assessment and Product Scanning. The training included lectures and activities on the correct and effective way of collecting, processing, and marketing wild honeybees.

Financial management training was also provided for the participants to instill responsible use and management of their finances and resources.

On top of its missionary electrification mandate, NPC is also tasked to protect and rehabilitate 11 watershed reservations that support power generation facilities. These are Angat Watershed in Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Aurora and Rizal; Upper Agno River Watershed in Benguet and Ifugao; Caliraya-Lumot Watershed in Laguna; Makiling-Banahaw Watershed in Bangatas, Laguna and Quezon; Buhi-Barit Watershed in Camariens Sur; Tiwi Watershed in Camarines Sur and Albay; Lake-Lanao Agus River Watershed in Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte; Pulangi Watershed in Bukidnon, Magat and Pantabangan Watersheds in Nueva Ecija and Nueva Vizcaya (co-managed with NIA).
