NPC energizes Tigtabon Island in Zamboanga City

NPC officials and Zamboanga City Representative Manuel ‘Mannix’ Dalipe on Thursday, March 17 led the inauguration of a new power plant in Tigtabon Island, Zamboanga,

making electricity accessible to more than a thousand households in the island.

Tigtabon is the second island barangay in Zamboanga that NPC has energized after switching-on Pangapuyan Diesel Power Plant in October 2021. Three more barangays are yet to be inaugurated namely Great Sta.Cruz, Tumalutab and Manalipa.

Apart from power generation, NPC also assumed the distribution functions on these islands after Zamcelco waived the right to operate as distributor of electricity.

Congressman Dalipe profusely thanked NPC’s off-grid electrification project and its SPUG Mindanao Operations Department for the projects. As vice chairperson of the Appropriations Panel in the Lower House, he was instrumental in the approval of the Department of Energy’s budget which include that of NPC’s.

“I believe, we are not just launching a power plant here, we are investing in and for our people’s future. When we energize these households, we improve the lives of many and shape the outlook for economic growth. I convey my appreciation to the men and women of Napocor, finally we can say, FROM LEGISLATION in Congress TO INAUGURATION in our island barangays. With projects like these, Zamboanga City will surely have more development,” said Congressman Dalipe.
