NPC lights up Pangapuyan Island in Zamboanga
The National Power Corporation on Saturday, October 9 has launched and opened its new facility to light up Pangapuyan Island in Zamboanga City, granting electricity to some 800 residents.


The switching on of the diesel power plant was led by Congressman Manuel Jose M. Dalipe and NPC employees led by Mr. Yahcob H. Darayan, Department Manager for SPUG Mindanao Operations. Also witnessing the momentous event were Councilor John Dalipe, Atty Melchor Sadain, Barangay Captain Khadafy Jailani, NPC’s Western Mindanao Operations Division Manager Conrad D. Isahac, NPC’s Power Engineering Service’s Mr. Arnel Rodriguez, Mr. Omar Antocan and the power plant’s head, Mr. Richard M. Brique.


Pangapuyan is the first of the five island barangays in Zamboanga City that NPC is set to energize. Other areas include Great Sta. Cruz, Manalipa, Tigtabon and Tumalutab. Pangapuyan is likewise the first power plant in ZAMBASULTA area (Zamboanga City, Basilan, Sulu,Tawi-Tawi) where NPC also serves as a distribution utility.
