NPC increases service hours in Casian Island, Taytay Palawan
On Monday, April 26, some 180 households on a small island off the coast of Taytay in Palawan has started receiving 16 hours of electricity from NPC’s Casian Diesel Power Plant. This is also after the corporation delivered a new 60kW generating set on the island in the last quarter of 2020.
NPC attributed the increase in service hours to the growing power demand and household connections in Casian whose major livelihood is fishing and kasuy farming. From the 70 connected households during the power plant’s inauguration in October 2018, it has now more than doubled.
Casian, a good 7-hour ride (land and boat) from Puerto Princesa, is one of the 31 barangays of the Municipality of Taytay in Palawan. It is one of the 276 power facilities that NPC operates in missionary areas. 🔳
