NPC distributes thousands of tree seedlings in Pangasinan, Benguet (Oct 22)

In pursuit of its watershed management mandate, NPC-Watershed Management Division’s San Roque Watershed Area Team has distributed around 22,000 forest and fruit-bearing tree seedlings to various organizations (including tree farmers or cooperators) and local government units in Pangasinan and Benguet.
The seedling dispersal program aims to support numerous greening programs and tree planting and nourishing activities in the said areas. The seedlings distributed were an assortment of narra (Pterocarpus indicus), banaba (Lagerstroemia speciosa), bagras (Eucalyptus deglupta), guyabano (Annona muricata), cacao (Theobroma cacao), and molave (Vitex parviflora), among others.
NPC’s Central Forest Nursery in San Roque has eight chambers that can house 10,000 seedlings each. For this year, the team has already produced and cared around 50,000 seedlings.

NPC manages nine (9) watershed areas in the country that support power generation. This covers around 458 thousand hectares of land. NPC performs watershed rehabilitation, protection and resource development to nourish and safeguard these watershed reservations.
