BACKGROUND
The NPC-Student Traineeship
Program (NPC-STP) is part of NPC’s industry academe linkage program
whereby college students of
accredited universities and colleges undertake their internship or
office practicum in various organizational units in the Head Office and
field offices to comply with academic requirements . Various workgroups
jointly implement this corporate wide program: The Technical Training
Management & Services Division (TTMSD) for the Head Office and the HR of
NPC plants.
The
NPC-STP has two (2) major components:
1.
Technical Internship –
designed for graduating students pursuing engineering courses as well as
technical/vocational courses.
2.
Non-Technical Internship –
offered to graduating students pursuing non-engineering courses i.e.
management, computer science, public administration, psychology,
accounting, etc..
OBJECTIVES:
1.
To give the student
trainees a feel of the actual working atmosphere and chance to apply
skills and knowledge acquired in school;
2.
To expose the student
trainees to current trends, developments and needs of a particular
industry; and
3.
To broaden the student
trainees’ practical experiences and his/her outlook on his/her line of
work so he/she may have proper perspective and attitude.
REQUIREMENTS:
A. Pre-qualification
Standards:
Applicants to the NPC Student
Traineeship must:
1.
be students of NPC
accredited schools/institutions;
2.
be recommended by the
school to undertake office practice/on the job training and;
3.
at least posses a general
average rating of 82% or 2.5 for the last two (2) semesters/terms
attended.
B.
Admission Requirements:
1.
Letter of recommendation/request from the
school to be allowed to do their office practice in NPC;
2.
Certificate of Good Moral Character issued
by the Dean
3.
Three (3) copies of recent ID picture (1x1)
4.
Local Police or NBI Clearance
5.
Certification of Grades earned during the
preceeding two (2) semesters.
6.
Medical certificate (fit to work); X-Ray
and Drug test

Exit Requirements:
Upon completion of training, the following shall be submitted to the NPC-STP
administrator:

Duly accomplished Progress
Evaluation Report
2.
Signed Time Cards
3.
Narrative Report
4.
Student Trainee’s ID
REGULATIONS
GOVERNING THE NPC-STP
1. Wear
your NPC-STP ID conspicuously on your breast at all times while inside NPC
premises;
2. Attend
the Flag Ceremony every Monday, 8:30 AM;
3. Attend
the NPC-STP Orientation Program.
4. Wear
proper corporate attire, school uniform or follow the NPC dress code.
5. Punch
in your own time card on or before 8:00 AM and punch it out at 5:00 PM.
Punching someone else’s time card is a grave offense;
(Dishonesty/Grave Misconduct Penalty = NO CERTIFICATE); LOST TIMECARD-
REPEAT OJT
6. Observe
strictly the following break periods:
A.M. Snacks – 10:00 – 10:15 A.M.
Lunch - 12:00 - 1:00 P.M.
P.M Snacks - 3:00 - 3:15 P.M.
7. Traineeship
must be completed within the prescribed period given by NPC Coordinator. Be
punctual. Perfect attendance is highly recommended.
8. Seek the permission of the
immediate Supervisor and NPC Coordinator for any absence to be incurred during
traineeship;
9. Observe telephone manners.
Answer the telephone promptly by observing the following courtesies:
a. Greet the caller
b. State
your organization
(Section/Division/Department)
c. Introduce
yourself
d. Offer
your help
e. Listen
effectively and take the message. End calls pleasantly.
10.
Observe silence within NPC premises,
Vandalism, Loitering & Littering are not allowed;
11.
Be courteous towards your supervisor and
other NPC employees and officials. You are not allowed to go out with
employees during office hours or after 5:00 PM;
12.
No field work (Students are not allowed to
travel outside their NPC work area or go with employees on field work);
13.
Documents/Papers should always be delivered
to the Secretary of the office concerned with courtesy;
14.
Avoid long and colored haircut, tattoo,
earrings and body piercing for boys;
15.
Computers are for official use only, no
social networking even during breaktime;
16.
Ask permission from owners to use telephone,
other equipment and supplies and drinking water;
17.
Do not bring your car; (Drop off Gate 2 only)
18.
Avoid texting during office hours, use it for
emergency purposes only;
19.
No lady smoking even at the smoking area
20.
Employees should be called “Ma’am” or “Sir”,
never call the employees “Ate” or “Kuya”.
21.
Do not disturb other trainees in their
workstation/area;
22.
No personal errands for the employees;
23.
Sexual Harassment should not be tolerated or
ignored.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF SUPERVISORS:
1.
Design a program of activities
for the duration of traineeship;
2.
Ensure that assigned tasks are
related to student intern’s course;
3.
Orient the intern on
workgroup’s policies and procedures; discuss and clarify expectations of both
the supervisor and the intern since traineeship must be mutually beneficial
and rewarding experience; and
4.
Create work situations that
would instill work discipline and positive work ethics to prepare the student
intern(s) for future employment.
