Energy agencies, NPC and NGCP sign a Memorandum of Agreement today for the five hectare and 50 hectare Reforestation programs of NGCP in Angat Watershed Reservation Area in Bulacan and Makiling-Banahaw Watershed Reservation, respectively. The agreement is one of the conditions of NPC in granting NGCP a special tree cutting permits for the upgrading of the San Jose-Angat 115 kV Transmission Line and the Lumban EHV-Bay 230 kV Transmission Line.

Also included in the MOA signing is the Sagip Siera Madre Environmental Society, Inc.(SSMESI) and the Mt. Malaraya-Malepunyo Watershed Protection Council, Inc., that will implement the reforestation programs in the watersheds in behalf of NGCP.

NGCP shall finance the procurement and planting of the seedlings; its protection and maintenance; and site survey and mapping among others. For its part, NPC shall identify the five hectare area and provide technical assistance to SSMESI for the plantation.

NPC President Ma. Gladys Cruz-Sta. Rita and NGCP Chief Administrative Officer Anthony L. Almeda both expressed their delight in the beginning of a partnership for the environment.
