On Wednesday, December 17, 2014, the National Power Corporation leads the soft launching of the Angat Rainforest and Eco Park (AREP) in Bulacan that aims to promote environmental education and awareness to the public.

In a short program in AREP’s Ecological Center, NPC President Ma. Gladys Cruz-Sta. Rita called on to the students, stakeholders and guests to be involved in campaigning for the protection and preservation of the Angat Watershed. 

President Gladys led the releasing of 100,000 tilapia fingerlings to ensure food security and livelihood for the Dumagat people. She also shared a boodle-fight lunch with the Dumagats, guests and the organizers of the event, the Watershed Management Department headed by Mr. Emmanuel Umali.

Present during the event were representatives from Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS), Maynilad, Manila Water, National Commission for Indigenous People (NCIP), local government units, Provincial Government of Bulacan, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office, Sagip Sierra Madre Environmental Society; students from NPC Elementary and High Schools and the leaders of Dumagat Tribe.
