Governor Abet Garcia and Congressman Tet Garcia of Bataan together with local partners of a foreign investor met with NPC President Ma. Gladys Cruz- Sta Rita on Tuesday to discuss the possibility of converting the mothballed Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) into a 1,200 MW coal plant.
The ownership and title of the BNPP property is now in the name of the Republic of the Philippines under the control of the Department of Finance. NPC, however, continues to perform its mandate of preserving the facility until the National Government finally decides on what to do with the facility.
A number of investors are interested to put up power plants at the BNPP compound located at the 357 hectare government reservation at Napot Point in Morong, Bataan.
