Proclaimed under Presidential Proclamation No. 548, the reservation covers a total area of 123,000 hectares located in the municipalities of Bokod, Kabayan, La Trinidad, Tublay, Buguias and portion of Atok and Itogon, all in the province of Benguet. It encompasses the catchments basin of the Ambuklao and Binga reservoirs. These two (2) dams are used chiefly to generate hydroelectric power. Topography of the reservation is generally rough and mountainous characterized by steep slopes, deep ravines and waterways with elevation ranging from 340 to 2,922 meters above sea level. Climate in the area falls within the first climatic type with pronounced rainy season from May to October and little rain during the rest of the year. High intensity of rainfall is associated with thunderstorms and typhoons.
